FURniture

Lots and lots of furniture....
Mom went this morning and picked up some furniture; her SIL's MIL died and no one in the family wanted her belongings (lots of beautiful antiques, including a huge organ that was *her* mother's)so, except for the antiques (they're selling them) they gave mom the rest. She got 2 couches, 3 chairs, a dining room set with hutch, a tv stand, several lamps, a beautiful, wonderful coffee table, two bedside tables, piles and piles of pots and pans, bowls, curtains, bedding sets, throw pillows, fake flowers, clothes...they just got rid of everything.
Mom said they were going to pick up a couch, maybe two. I was SO surprised when I got up there and there was all that. So I got Mom's old couch, which actually wasn't that old...we gave it to her a year or two ago...and I got a chair that went with one of the couches. It's SO comfortable. I *kinda* wish we had gotten that couch to go with it, even though it's lots older than the one we got...it's so soft. The couch we got folds out into a bed, but I doubt we'll ever use it.
I also brought home a set of pots, lots of coffee mugs, houseshoes (Emma's ) and fake flowers (also Emma's), and a bedding set...that's for Emma, too...a George Forman grill (that's mine), and an electric skillet...I've been wanting one of those.
My furniture (You get a glimpse of it in the picture, under Max) was getting SO worn out, especially since we've had Oscar and he chewed up one of the arms and was working on one of the cushions. It was second-hand when we got it, and we've had it several years. Our new couch is dark...blue, green and burgandy...and won't show stains...yea!
And on a different sort of note, but closely related...my sister rented a house! The house she's been living in you'd have to see to believe (She said the ceiling fell in last week...) so now they've got something nice...a full basement, a patio, within walking distance of the park, ~shelves~ lol, and closer in...they've been living way out in the middle of no-where, and she doesn't have her driver's license, so her husband has to take her to work and pick her up which is a LOT more gas...so it'll be better all around. She was looking at a couple more, but when she went to look at this one, she just rented it on the spot. I can't wait to see it. She says there is a "hidey-hole" in the kid's room closet...just like they wanted. That'll be a lot of fun.
And what is good for us is...we get their storage building! They just got it last year, I believe, and her DH has kept his tools there, but they can't take it with them, so I offered to buy it, and they said....$50!!! I ran out and got the $$ before they could change their minds. lol
Emma and Anna have been talking about building a house of their own, and this will be a great way to get them one...they're planning how they're going to decorate.
