Martha Has Laid Her Eggs!

We were reading a book about spiders this morning, and I glanced up at Martha, and she was busily working on an egg sac! We hated that we missed the egg laying, but it was interesting watching her make the sac. It'll take about a month for them to hatch, so sometime in the next month we'll have to either take it outside, or put her and it outside. I'm not sure Emma is ready to give her up, but neither am I sure that the spiderlings can get out without her. We've been reading a lot about spiders, and several books mention the mother opening the egg sac for the babies. We'll have to discuss it.
