did you even know I had left? lol
We went on our "vacation" yesterday. Just a little one-day trip, but a nice diversion. : ) I HATE traveling...a 10 mile trip is about my limit...more than about 20 minutes in the car, and I'm beginning to panic. Anyway, we took a 2 hour trip yesterday, to an amusement park. And I survived! But that's beside the point. lol
Emma won 2 free tickets again at the Summer Reading Club, so we only had to buy tickets for Daddy and Anna...still $85, but that's do-able. We stopped at a gem mine on the way, and the girls mined for gems...Anna got fool's gold (iron pyrite) in hers, and Emma bought a small bag of polished gemstones. Then we went on to the park...SO few people there! It was really nice...stay on the rides for several times each...that's always fun. Justus asked which parking lot we parked in...F or G...I told him I didn't even know it went past C. I've never parked past C...one more reason to go in Sept. There were very few people there, mostly older couples, and people with little kids, but I did see several families that looked like homeschoolers. I didn't speak to them, and they didn't speak to me. Very reserved homeschoolers. lol
We rode all we wanted (except one roller coaster, it started raining a little and we didn't think it would be safe wet) then we shopped in the little stores....the girls got to dip candles; it's dipping white candles into colored wax, but I think it will give them some idea of what dipping candles is like, when they read about it someday...they may have already read about it in the Little House books...I don't remember if they dip candles or not.
Anyway, after they finished shopping (and stopping back by the gem mine in the park; mining for gems, arrowheads and fossils this time) we headed down to the aquarium that's nearby. THAT was SO COOL! It was $70 to get in...the prices just kill me!...but SO worth it...it made such a nice end to our day. There are the coolest sharks and saw fish, and a sea turtle...I could just go on and on...it was just amazing. Daddy said that made the day just perfect...it wouldn't have nearly as much fun if we hadn't gotten to go. We got to pet horseshoe crabs and sting rays (with the barbs removed)! SO cool!
