Oh, gosh, I wish I had pictures! Next time we're there I'll HAVE to take the camera!
And just where is it, you ask?.....Bear Creek Lane and Snake Hole Valley. The kids named them....lol
Behind my mom's house is a mountain. Just inside the woods is a hunting cabin...the owners only come up about twice a year, and the rest of the time, the kids run about in the woods there. Emma took me on Bear Creek Lane up to Snake Hole Valley today...talk about PRETTY! Bear Creek Lane curves around the base of the mountain (not very far...maybe 1/4 mile) and opens up to Snake Hole Valley, so called because of all the holes in the ground there...they could be snake holes...could be something else. No one has actually SEEN a snake there. ; ) The land owner has a tree stand there for hunting, and it's cleared out in a circle around the tree.
Bear Creek Lane got it's name because the land owner told Mom he saw a mother bear and two cubs back there a couple years ago. We haven't seen anything of the sort...but we're always cautious, anyway. Emma and I flushed out a quail today, though. : ) She was scared of it...it's her first.
BUT, we saw several kinds of mosses and mushrooms, and discovered several other interesting things...a horseshoe grown into a tree (or would it be a tree grown into a horseshoe?), a centipede, a lovely moss bank....it's really beautiful.
Mom said she's been up there, and all the kids have been, but I didn't even know it was there until Daddy brought back video of it. I've been up to the house, but only that far. I told Mom if I lived there I'd be walking it every day for exercise. It's just the kind of place I like to walk.
I've GOT to get pics...just telling isn't good enough. ; )
