Oh, What A Day!

And I haven't got a single picture!
My Dad's family had a reunion today. The first ever. When we were really small most of us got together on Sunday evenings at his parent's house, but after his dad died and his mother went to stay with one of his sisters, we didn't see them anymore. Then, when he died when I was 8 we *really* didn't see them. One of his sisters and her family would come and visit, and we'd go to their house, but the rest we NEVER (literally, not exaggerating) saw. I have NO IDEA who these people are. For the most part, I recognize their names when I hear them, but attaching a name to a face...that's another thing all together.
Anyway, we had a reunion. One of my cousins invited everyone to her house (giving you an idea of what they're like, a lot of them said if SHE didn't invite them PERSONALLY they wouldn't come.) : P
She fixed about 400 hamburgers and about the same number of hot dogs. I'd say 200 *MAY* have gotten eaten. There was a lot of food left over...it was just too hot to eat.
Anyway....she had a pool, and the girls had a good time swimming. I forgot to take them some swimming clothes, but she didn't mind them getting in their regular clothes. I did have a change of clothes in the van for them, though. She rented a big blow-up bouncy thing, and had a volleyball net, and a little pool for the small kids, and a little dog that ate brocolli, bingo and prizes for later in the evening...oh, the funniest thing. One of my aunts came out, and Daddy and I were sitting on the back porch talking and she asked if we were going to play Bingo. Daddy said we weren't, and she goes..."Oh...OOOOHHHHH, okay." and left. I laughed and laughed when she was out of earshot. Daddy wondered why, and I explained...she thought we were too religious and didn't "believe" in playing Bingo! I got a big kick out of that.
I got splashed and wet while watching the girls in the pool, and spent the rest of the evening wet and cold. Then, it rained on me...so I was wetter and colder. My hair was so wet I was wringing the water out. After I dried the girls' clothes out they had on in the pool, I traded clothes with Emma. I felt some better after that, but "something" was still wet, and my legs are chaffed now...TMI? lol
My cousin has a big beautiful house...lots and lots of things...Daddy got a little down, and talked all the way home about how he'd like to have a big house and lots of this and that. When we pulled into the driveway I said, "You know, Daddy, it's small and not much to look at, but I wouldn't take anything for it right now...it's good to be home." And it IS. I took a warm bath, and got into DRY clothes, and hugged my cats...it's so nice to be home.
