More Homeschooling The Boy ; )

Today was a LOT harder than last week...the whole week!
He finally got his English Grammar, Literature and Vocabulary books, and Algebra 1. Who ever thought I could teach Algebra 1? I can't even add fractions...hopefully he can figure it out better than I can, because we're hurting if he can't. Mom thinks he may be able to go back to school for English and Algebra classes next week. Hopefully he can, but it means we have to double up on his lessons, because he's a week behind the class now. He had to do 2 days worth of work today in English and Algebra, and it was DREADFUL!!! I thought he'd never get done. And he's so unsure of himself...he'll ask me after EVERY SINGLE ONE if it's correct. Thankfully (sort of) Mom was home when he did his algebra, so she was able to answer him, tomorrow I guess I'll get to do it. : ( He had so much work to do it was about 9:00 before I got home...a 12 hour workday with him. I suggested to Mom that she get him up and ready and started on something before she leaves for work, so he won't just be waking up and reading the paper and all when I get up there and we can go ahead and work...today he was asleep when I got there (about 8:30 or 9) and when we came in we woke him, then he read the paper, read a couple chapters in the Bible, and ate breakfast, so it was after 10 before he even got started on anything. We didn't take an early break, just a 1/2 hour lunch, then a couple short breaks for supper and darts in the evening...otherwise we've worked and worked. He was misspelling everything by the time it was all over; and I wasn't much better (not that I'm usually that good at spelling, but YKWIM). My sister came up with her kids and my older brother's 2 dd's came up and they all had a rip-roaring good time...my girls are bruised all over~Anna looks like someone tried to hang her. (She said she was pulling on the clothes line and it snapped back and hit her neck)
I'm needing to get in bed so I can start it all again tomorrow. Thankfully, he has a dr app. Thurs, and mom will take off work and go with him, so I'll be FREE!!! He'll still want me to hang around and help him with his schoolwork, but I won't have to be there all day! lol
If he gets to go back to school part-time next week I'll have to run him out there, wait on him and take him home...that'll take up a lot more time...at least I won't have to teach algebra, though!
My girls have been reading about gemstones, minerals, rocks...things like that...Emma's singing the Major General song.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_General's_Song
"I am the very model of a modern Major General
I'm information, vegetable, animal and CALCITE mineral..."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcite
lol!
