We went over to the river fishing again today. It was a great day...not too warm, not to chilly, and BEAUTIFUL colors on the trees.
Unfortunately, the camera died. We were taking picture after picture...the girls each got a fish, and there were wonderful *big* raccoon tracks, and the leaves and sun through them...then I realized that although the camera made a noise and flashed like it had taken a picture, it wasn't counting down...we got a grand total of 4 pictures before it died...and Anna's only in the corner of one, with her back to the camera. Bummer.
Anyway...
Since I don't fish, I went for a walk up the river...it was SO cool. There were these HUGE clam-like shells...mussels, I guess...broken open where the raccoons had eaten piles of them, and interesting little curley shells...I pulled one off the rock it was on and showed the girls it's little muscle-foot thingey. They really hold on tight! Anna pulled a little on one to see how tight they hold on, and then slipped and fell in the river. Her little feet were SO cold when I got her back to the van and changed her socks and shoes.
The girls were just pulling fish out left and right, literally one after another. Most (almost all) were tiny, but still fish. There were two men we didn't know fishing upstream and they were pulling fish out regularly. Then there was Daddy, in the middle, not catching anything. He said he felt like he was in the twilight zone. lol He finally did catch our biggest fish of the day, though.
We stayed until they had fished away all the bait and the moon was up. It was about 15 till 9 when we finally got home, but a wonderfully fun day.
Now, I'm going to go get into a hot bath...ahhhh...
