I Keep Wanting to Name My Entries the Same Things...

I wonder Why that is?
We got a new baby today! Well, he's not ours ; ) He's my SIL's sister's. But that puts him in our family, and maybe I can claim to be his aunt. ; ) He's a cutie, isn't he?
We worked on my mom's yard today, for her mother's day present. It looks SO GOOD now!
She had a fence row...all grown up with honeysuckle and posion ivy, trees sprouting...we got it all cleaned out, and the fence down. It looks wonderful. We left the biggest trees, and she's talking about putting a hammock (sp?) between two of them, and a swing between two others.
NOW, all we have to do is contend with the poision ivy. Both girls have it on their legs, and my right arm is itching pretty good. I have Benadryl, though, and we'll make it through.
As one of my cousins said once..."It must be spring...Paige has poision ivy." lol
I wish I had a before picture to show...I know Daddy had one once, but I bet it's on a disk now, and I don't know which one. I'd like to show before and after pics.....it looks so much better. Mom is amazed that she hung on to that old fence for 15 years. ; ) She liked the privacy it gave, but, truthfully, her neighbors on that side are hardly ever home. Plus, there is a hayfield between them...they're not exactly able to look into her windows, anyway. ; )
It extended her yard 12ft. by about 50 ft. Isn't that amazing! We cleaned out the lower fence last year (the garage divides the yard into roughly 1/3 +2/3 sections, we cleaned out the front 1/3 last year, so this year was the 2/3...and it was a lot harder, too. : )
I'm itching now...maybe I should go take the medicine BEFORE it gets unbearable. ; )

Mother's Day Helpers

Daddy was feeling sick today, so the girls went up to see his mom in his place. (He got to feeling better later this evening, so I walked up there with him.) The girls stayed up there most of the evening, and helped their Grandma so much I was proud of them.
Emma cleaned off the kitched table...you'd have to see it to believe it...it's an almost head-high pile usually; mail, papers, bread, chips, drinks, bags...gobs of stuff. His Mom said "She told me it was a surprise, "And I put all your papers here, and your bread is there, but I had to throw two bags of buns away because they were BLACK."
Anna helped her in her garden. She trimmed all the grass out of the fence, and helped rake up leaves which had piled up in a corner by the fence.
I'm so proud of my girls today. ; )

Yesterday~and Today

That's my Little Doodle. Yesterday I went up to mom's and my sister came up, so I got to see him. He's SOOO cute!
He was fussing about wanting to go outside, so I carried him out onto the porch and showed him the cat. She said "Meow" to us, and I asked him, "Did you hear Bunny talk to us? She said, "meow." He said" Me.........owwwwww". It was SO cute. Then mom came out and got him, and she was holding him, standing beside me, and his big sister (5) in front of them. I said, "Tell Gramma what the kitty says." And he said, "Me...." and hit his sister and she said" ow!" We all cracked up. It was so funny. He was so proud of himself he chased both his sisters around the porch saying "Me.." and hitting them. They escaped and my girls came out and he picked up a toy broom and chased them to get them to say it. It was just so hilarious. We really shouldn't have laughed...he'll think it's a great idea to hit his sisters now...but it was just too funny not to. We were all so surprised when he first did it...he's a little stinker. ; ) My sister said he chased his sister all over the house last night trying to hit her.
Today, I cleaned in the girl's room, re-arranged, put up wallpaper on one wall, and re-shelved about 1,000,000 books (give or take a few). I took out two small bookshelves and put in one big one. It takes up a lot less room, and all the books still fit. Well, all the books we already had....I bought 18 discards at the library yesterday. We'll find a place for them, though. There's always room for a few more. ; ) We actually went through and picked out several to get rid of! Nearly a box full...yea! I told the girls if they wanted to get rid of a book, they had to make sure the other of them didn't want it, and then I had the final say in whether or not we actually would get rid of it...and we still managed to get rid of a lot! I'm so proud of ourselves. ; )
Emma said the funniest thing tonight. She was saying something about finding a certain book...I wish I could remember what it was she said. Whatever it was, it was bad grammar, and she immediately followed it with, "I'm using homeschool linguistics!" It took me a second to figure out what she had said, then we all had a good laugh. It's a joke around here...if we use bad grammar while we're talking, one of us will say to the other, "I learning my young'ns how to talk English." or something similar...sometimes it's," I's a homeschooler." Yes, we're all nuts around here. ; )

Baby In A Bucket

We got to babysit today.
I had the water hose hooked up in the backyard, and I showed Little Doodle how to use it. He had to use both hands to make it work, then he wanted to feel the water, so he'd let go with one hand and try to catch the water, and of course, it'd stop. He figured out to push it up against the table and keep it going. He's just brilliant!
My sister said the other day he was taking the batteries out of his Leap Pad, and when he was finished and gone on to other things she went to put them back in, and couldn't find them...then she accidentally hit one of the buttons and it started talking...he had put the batteries back in correctly! He's brilliant! ; )
We only got to keep them 11-2. They were very good kids. But then, they always are.Going in...

Where's the baby? Baby in a bucket.

15 Years!

I saw online this morning that Jay Leno is celebrating 15 years with his show. I didn't realize it before, but that would mean that he started it the same year I graduated.
This year is my 15th out of high school. This fellow in my picture, my baby brother, was born 3 days after my graduation. THAT's how long it's been! He certainly has grown up quickly, it seems. My Mom went to the doctor that day (it was a Friday) and the doctor said, "I believe this baby is ready to come out, we could take you in and go ahead and do it now." (She knew she was going to have to have a c-section, because he was big...with a big head...and her 'advanced' age;she was 44) But, she said, "Can we wait a couple days, my youngest daughter is graduating from high school tonight, and I can't miss that." So they waited until Monday. I've always thought that was a funny story.
But, now it's 15 years. I should take myself out to eat for a reunion. ; ) I went to a really small private school, and was one of 2 in my "class". I finished up early, I did 11th and 12th at the same time, because I didn't see any reason to come back another year just for English 12 and Government.
15 years sounds so long to me. Time just passes too quickly!

What's been going on...

Anna and Daddy. I think it's so cute the way she drapes herself over him. My dad died when I was 8, and he wasn't around much before that, so I've never had a "Daddy" to drape over like that...I think they're sweet.
Emma and I made peanut butter cookies today. We ate them almost as fast as they came out of the oven, but I burnt the last batch. We're going out in a few minutes to roast weiners and marshmallows.
I'm all sneezy. Allergies are dreadful. I took a pill, but it was too much and I decided I'd prefer to sneeze.
Daddy finally got his new computer all set up and going. Including the printer. It's nice...although it has Vista and he doesn't like it. He can manage I guess...; )

Whistling Girls and Crowing Hens...

If you think those are bad, just listen to this...
We had our weiner and marshmellow roast....and had fun.
When we were nearly finished, Daddy spat into the fire. (like projectile spitting...forceful...KWIM?) Anna asked him, "Daddy, how come boys can spit like that but girls can't?" I laughed and said, "Daddy, you're in for it now....you'll have to teach them to spit like that." So he did.
By the time we came in, they were spitting excellantly! We left them out there with the pitcher of kool-aid to put the fire out by spitting in it. LOL
It was too dark for pictures, but I wish I could have taken some....it was SO funny. They caught on so quickly....I guess it's true about kids learning fast when it's something they're interested in. ; ) lol
